Timberdoodles Above with The Darke County Parks

March 12, 2015
7:30 pm

“Peent... Peent!” The American Woodcock is so expertly camouflaged that it quite nearly vanishes when it rests on the woodland floor. Not so during the breeding season. In the early spring, the males put on elaborate flights, dances and unique calls. We’ll scour the “dancing grounds” near Shawnee Prairie to attempt to catch a glimpse at this annual spring ritual.
