Early Morning Discovery Hikes

Join a Naturalist from the Darke County Parks to explore local trails and discover the sights and sounds. Hikes focus on bird watching, wildflower, tree and fungi ID, and take place rain or shine. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair from them.

Woodland Headbangers at The Darke County Parks

Hummingbird Banding First Hand with Darke County Parks

Summer Floating with Darke County Parks

Enjoy a calm summer float on Lake Loramie State Park. Meet at the Darke County Nature Center at Shawnee Prairie Preserve to carpool to our put-in location. Float through the islands of the Lake, and enjoy wildlife and flowering plants. Please be sure to dress to get wet, bring sunscreen and plenty of drinking water. Ages 10 and up, please (call with questions). Reserve a canoe for two or solo a kayak.

Sights and Sounds of a Summer Evening

Join a Darke County Naturalist for a hike and enjoy the sights and sounds of a summer evening at Routzong Preserve. This preserve has many fascinating habitats to explore; be it prairie, woodland or stream. Enjoy a quiet walk and watch the natural world transition from the heat of the day to cooling evening. Dress for the weather and meet at Routzong just off St. Rt. 571 East of Greenville.
